:: Books & Breaks

Stuff and things. My brother recently sent me some books (xday presents) about Winnie the Pooh, or Taoism, depending on how you look at it. It was a nice book to read and took me just one lazy Sunday to complete. I realized very early into the book I agree with most of what the author is describing and that I fit many taoist ways, some examples he gave I have almost word for word used myself before... I mostly lack in thinking positively about being this way as I think aggression and muscle are easier to understand and work faster. Oh well. I'm not violent. But I wish I was.

Now moving on to violence. Out of nowhere the right side of the door frame leading into my bathroom decides it doesn't like me and jumps right in front of my 2nd toe (counting from left to right) and breaks it. I must say it surprised me after having lived together for so long without a problem between us. It made me very mad and feel very clumsy. I can't confirm that is is broken but it hurt a real lot and was bent on an angle it wasn't on before. This morning it was nice and fat and bruised around it. So walking now sucks. Biking is still fine and I'll only make the mistake of leaning to the left when I stop once.

:: Pics & Words

This morning. We are having beautiful weather right now.... CALGARY WEATHER ROCKS. I bike home in a T-shirt since the weekend.Last night. If I hadn't eaten a brownie and been getting a little paranoid I would have watched it somewhere without the trees and wires. I didn't mind. I did catch it until it peaked.This will be mine, soon.I went on a big bike ride on Family day..... dumb holiday name but happy to now work a short week. These birds were like where's Waldo for taking picture but they were bold enough to jump on my bike handles and look right at me. There were several of them.They'd rather jump off bridge than be photo'd. They just wouldn't hold still.This one got lazy for a second. Though because of the ice almost looks fake. I didn't fake it. Never have :].Boom! Gotcha. Trying to get away again. Seeing these guys reminded me of last spring when I went on a similar trek through Fish Creek. I stopped for a break and a sip of purple gatorade when one of these guys (different place in the creek) stopped on a branch right in front of me. I put my hand out and he jumped right on. He stayed there looking at me and me at him until a slightly bigger (older brother/sister?) came flying in and scared him off. He/she then chriped at me a few times from a branch and jetted away after their younger sibling. Things like that happen.Downtown. I had just biked through here and up a hill. Many joggers, walkers, and dogs were walking along. This street is called Crescent Ave. Very fitting name as it is clearly a crescent as well as a avenue and follows a hill a little taller than Eigth Line that follows the contures of the Bow, North of the core.The mighty Bow... fighting the ice with a beautiful colour. I don't know if it's the ice or the minerals in the water causing the turquoise.
Midway through the voyage I stopped for at tubby Dog for a tubby dog and a Steam Whistle. I forgot to ask for no onions so the pile of napkins is carefully dissected onion bits while keeping the chilli/bacon/cheese/mustard intact. And trying to eat these uses many napkins regardless.....fucking delicious.On an off note. This is something I did. the blue tape shows it's not yet done. But I did this. That's my railing.

:: I'm That Guy

Today I walked into the Swiss Chalet near my place to get some fries and chalet sauce. I had just gone on a little ride to stretch the legs and in order to cancel out the ride I figured a poutine would help keep my model figure.

But here's what I'm getting at. The Swiss Chalet girl recognized me. And knew just what I was going to order. I have only gone there twice in the last month-ish. A few weeks ago the ladies at the butcher near me pointed out that I always buy the same thing and as soon as I went in showed me that they had moved the smokies to another fridge as the usual one was out of order. The young one has very pretty eyes.

My Starbuck's knows me as well as a Quiznos which includes the owners and a few part timers who always get to see me hungover on Saturdays. They know no onions, no mushrooms. When I go into Peanuts Pub just down the road I don't even get the chance to order. As soon as the waitress sees me she puts in an order for a medium rare steak sandwich and 2 Guinness. If I don't stop her I get the third without ordering as well, but she asks about the fourth. The grocery store and liquor store know me as well.

So why is it? Of course I do stick to a very close routine of daily events and I am 6'6" with long blond hair and wear coloured bandanas and large head phones. But how do they pick it up so fast? It's is kinda nice. I'm like Norm. Though getting different things confuses some. Oh well. I guess I'm just that guy.

:: Rockies

A little bit late but worth the wait, mate. A mountain of pics ;]
The night before just making sure things are all set to go.
I had had a few several rum and coke. I'm sure exhaustion played a part too.Driving up to the Fairmont and lake at Lake Louise. 7:30am. I had just had a BOB, or
breakfast-on-a-bun from the coffee shop. Right now I wanted another but never got it.
The hotel. No one is around. It is a very peaceful morning. Except for the terrifying drive into the mountains I had to go through to get here. From 9okph to zero visibility in 30s. The physics of it equals one scared shitless snowboarder. Didn't even need my coffee.The Lodge. meh.Left foot.Action shot!Inaction shot.The gear. When its really cold or windy I wear a scarf over the mask and put my hood on. Pic later. I have not been in cold enough weather that I don't sweat when my shields are at full. The weather was nice though on the hill.
Who's this guy? Alan.
I took the next few shots on the drive home. Most of them made me drive all over the road dangerously. You had better like them.

End of day.
Sunday dinner food.... eaten Monday.Full Armor. Very warm.Sunday Sunset. Simple serene.

Ummm. :]
