Got One!

Bowies first adventure in the water. She liked it but couldn't stay in long because it was too cold. It was the Bow River. Very appropriate, no? We thought so too.

Hide And Sleep

Can you find her? She prefers to trample, smash, and eat the right garden but leaves the left intact for naps. Tired, I suppose, from showing the right garden who's boss.

Don't Give Me Puppy Eyes....

...Oh, wait. You can't help it.

These puppy eyes are directed towards the bebop. Please help me escape blogspot, oh kind and webwise brother of mine. I will repay in the universally accepted currency of puppies.

Ice Breaker

The last posts I showed had snow and ice? Geeeez, I have a back log that scares me. I've got so many good shots. Ohhhh baby I've got some shots. To say I've been busy is an understatement. Isuppose getting a puppy isn't going to help my free time.

It's our puppy actually. Mostly hers, but mostly mine. Her name is Bowie and she's pretty far out. How far out? Really far out, man. Yup... that's pretty far out, man!

Grrrr... I'm done with blogger. Im going to find a new way to post and try and put up some little things to work my pile of pics to something manageable.

:: Backlog

The view from the Golden Rim, Golden BC. The morning after the best day of boarding I've ever had. We stayed over in case the weather would be the same on Sunday. It wasn't. Internet told us this mid-evening and so we began to enjoy liberal amounts of rum, hot tub, and water slide.This was the shit. Laughing, whooping, hollering, giggling, stupid happy powder. I didn't get many pictures. Too snowy, too fun, and poor visibility in most spots. This was my first time on my new board. New to me anyway. Only 3 years old! Longer than the M3 and dream machine in the pow. All day fresh tracks..... We went up Friday to ride the Saturday. Stayed at the hotel at the base of the hill, met people in the hottub, partied till 4:30 in the morning. Jeez :s Still got up on time to make breakfast (gramtasitic), coffee, and fresh drinks.

Except for this guy. He went back with one of our new friends and neither one remembered to turn on the alarm. His cell phone was set but it died overnight and they woke up at noon. The best was that we had to check out way earlier and he never brought shoes with him so what he's wearing in this picture is all he had as he ran from the hotel to find us and get the keys to our car to run to the parking lot and change there. We had been riding for hours. He did not get laid.

Magic wonderland. It was like SSX. Not even real. I can't even explain how many times I was in wonder. I realize how little I feel wonder until I see it again and again in one amazing day. Oh and Kicking Horse is my new favorite place. Went twice, 2 incredible times.
This was the first time there. Drea, Ben her bro, and I. Sweet day too.
There are three bowls and the sides of them are super steep but so snowy and you have to jump back and forth to turn. They look scary from the top but once you drop in they are totally safe. They make you feel like you're in a snowboard video when you carve a little then rip some big turn and plow waves of snow you can then rush through yourself.

The drive back. I'm a sucker for the mountains, even if you've seen this one many times before it always poses so nice. I dug the clouds this day.

Blam.Coooool.

Calgary ice stormin'. All these pics are old now. It's been forever since I posted. All I can say is I've been busy. When I get a night to myself I can't help but chill. I know this blog doesn't take much thought but not posting takes less. Also when I do try I get better posts. For what you all pay you deserve the best. The important thing I have to do is keep shooting. Keep a camera on me at all times.Then I can catch cool stuff. A lot of people here complained about the weather and how winter never ended. It wasn't a very wet one. It had some warm breaks. It had some cool looking stuff. It started late and never said one bad things about us. I think this was a pleasant winter and if I could I'd buy it a drink.

Ice spikes attack. Critical hit!

Which was does the wind blow? Ask the fence.

The tree knows too, but he also knows better than to let on that he knows. He doesn't care to share.

And unrelated day but a fun ride in. This was our last big snow (I think) and it was warm enough to be super sticky. My feet would go under a few inches every pedal and my feet had snow spikes off the front reminiscent of Klingon boots. Then they'd fall off when I hit a bump. My rims were almost solid at one point but bumped off right before I got to work on a curb I couldn't quite see. This snow was from the 10 feet I walked on the sidewalk to our backdoor.

Moving on.

Totally off topic but this is the really cute and heavy as hell concrete TV stand my girl made herself. Her friend helped a bunch too but it was her project... hey get your feet off there!

Better. Jeez. Like you own the place or something. Really cool table and is meant to be an oversized cinder block. It has rebar and everything in it and weighs roughly 700 pounds. heheheh. Kick ass table.
Here's the culprit. Not building here so much as taking apart. Or reallocating might be a better word. Jenga is really fun. I don't have much to add to that. I want to play again soon.

And I did this because I had to. Had to break my streak. Heres the deal, a quick kapow:

  • The best snow boarding I've ever done was this year.
  • I went 7 or 8 times this winter.
  • I was in my first reasonable car accident this winter, I wasn't driving.
  • The other day I drove the jeep, my first standard car ever, and did really well.
  • Works going very well.
  • My shoulder is falling apart.
  • I continue to impress myself.
  • I have no excuse for my lack of communication with people I love or have loved to be around.
  • I am on a rec volleyball team and it's so fun.
  • I don't like losing at volleyball.
  • Just because you're canadian doesn't mean NBA sucks.
  • I never miss a chance to yell advice at wildlife when I drive by them too close.
  • Saving money and having a girlfriend are both great, but mutually exclusive.
  • There is no black and white in the blue.
And I have tons more pics and a fun vid but who knows when I'll get to it. Hopefully tomorrow.

edit: I will repost some of the pics that won't go big in no order with no words that I think are worth seeing big. Dumb blogspot.

:: Staring Into The Sun

It's what I do. It clears my head. It brings perspective. I look out from the cage of my mind and see that my prison has the best view. I have the sun as it sets. Again and again. As everyday ends.

:: Big White

A fun family day weekend in (just outside of) Kelowna.
Some spots were tracked out but with a short easy stroll you could wade through waist deep all day. A ghost tree sanctuary on top.
Green(ish) Kelowna down below. This was a sweet spot to start a run from. You'd get about 8-10 turns in fresh stuff then some hit and miss, find your own track sweet tree runs. Then it flattened out and you had to battle to get back to a run but it was worth it.
This was the backside. It would have been cool but you had to hike for miles to get back if you dropped in.
This is the walk over. Boo rocks a mega strike.
Why walk down the a small hill, tobogan!
I'm the man, behind the man, behind the man. Here are some new friends. I bought a board (I have yet to actually pickup) from the photographer here.
The white desert.

Beer break.

Me and my girl. In this pic and the next you see how I am the only one who's head has clearly hit the ground and am the only one without a helmet.
Two cool cats. I know them as Bramsey. The first day had a mean wind at the top 1/3 of the chairlifts though clear as a bell and no wind while riding. The second day was calm and great all day. In the end the only injury I got was a cut on my right thumb from opening beer bottles both nights. It was a great trip. We got 8 people in a 4 person hottub. One wasn't wearing a suit. Nuff said.

Calgary. Cold, then ice cold, then mild, then freezing, then warm, then cold..... I like it. I love when the trees freeze.
I just snapped these on my ride home. The whole city was very pretty (except the roads).
And some random shots I just noticed and tried to quick-shoot. This one is why I think people make fun of the Calgary tower. Not quite the CN.
And this one made me laugh. Don't you picture one of the little kids driving? Especially with the crooked sign.

Update! Dash (not named dash) is doing great.
She lives with two other cats at a co-workers place and has become very affectionate and playful.
Demon eyes (angel eyes?). Apparently she got out semi-recently while the back door was open and it was her first time out since being taken home. She ran to the middle of the yard, stopped, and started howling and running side to side across the whole backyard. A big backyard to. Kinji, the co-worker, thought it was as if she remembered what it was like when she lived outside and didn't want to go back. Not one bit.

I'm glad she's a good cat.

Work to come later......

:: Slo Mo

Took many, only got one or two. This was Kelly Clark on her last run. She won the women's side. It was cool to see them.

:: One Tick of Pow

Maybe a lot more than one tick. First day ever on powder. Ankle, knee, waist, and chest deep. Every run had fresh tracks somewhere on them all day. Had a ball. Too much fun I only took a few pics because I wanted to keep riding. New goggles worked great. Going more soon.

A big sheet. Only about 20 inches are being cut off this and it goes on the wall. Whose dining room doesn't need one of these? How else would you know if your neighbor was watching you dine through the window from his place across the street a few doors down from you when your window is behind you? Now you see why you need one.

:: Gentle Beast

Watching the world one hopes he ponders a higher meaning for himself. Does he wait and suffer in self doubt, uncertain confidence, or diet induce hunger rage, we'll never know. The low January sun bounces back blood red. It's warmth and purity urging to penetrate his thick head, "Get back to work, Monkey!"This one we worked on together. A pain in the ass. Pretty slick though.
This was him. I helped. I'm the best helper. Best ever. I've been told that. They weren't wrong.
Fooooooood. Some left over salmon and stir fried vege. This was all done in the same pan at the same time because the salmon only needed to be heated through. Some lemon on top and wham! Yummy, yummy. I purposely super heated a spot on the pan to quick fry the skin to crisp up it last minute.
An I used these to eat with. That's right, I finally went to a dentist. Well, really I went twice because they couldn't clean them well enough on the first trip and I had to return the next day to finish. I apologized for how hard the hygienist had to work but she just joked about how she hadn't worked so hard in a long time and I was lucky she loved what she does. In the end I won. No cavities, gums are pretty good and healthy, teeth are clean and smooth and I learned what happens when you wait 5 years between appointments. Shit gets real. Fists clenched white knuckle real. Thinking the warm water gun and the sucky-air tube thing are your best friends and you don't see them nearly enough and you don't know what happened or why you drifted apart in the first place so you plan a fun weekend together with both of them to reconnect real.

But everyday ends. And this weekend I get to ride for the first time this season using my new goggles so I'm happy.
Splice, H.I. Persimmon lenses.
